The networking industry has, for 70-odd years been doing it this way:

1. Recruit people (doesn't much matter who, as long as they are a. breathing and b. have enough money to come to the party)

2. Just let nature take it's course, auto-sorting out all the losers and tire kickers, leaving 3 to 5 per cent that remain (even after as little as a YEAR, these are the numbers)

3. Repeat relentlessly, no matter WHO you piss off or WHICH relationships you destroy as long as your moving forward. Eye on the prize, yada yada

In the past half dozen or so years (and beginning with writing and logic of a close strategic INTERNET MARKETING partner of mine), the whole "attraction marketing" / "magnetic sponsoring" craze arrived. Like almost ALL online tactics or "new methods" this one isn't new at all - it's thousands of years old. It's just RE-PACKAGED. I refer to it simply as FLIRTING. In this case IFM - short for Internet Flirt Marketing. It's how you obtained a life partner. It's how you got your first job (and each one thereafter). It's the only way you've ever really made a friend. You first FLIRTED with them (you know, be nice, LISTEN TO THEM, compliment them - I won't go into the details but "How to win friends and influence people" is a darn good book to start if you're new to the principles - and I'm pretty sure it's now in the public domain - so just go DOWNLOAD THE THING! (smiling)

Here's the OTHER side of the coin - doing it BACKWARDS as some would say:

1. You flirt with people (anywhere - offline, online, email, smm, fb, twitter, church, skype, chat rooms, wherever)

2. You get to KNOW THEM better (back to the old KLT thingie, right?)

3. You find out you LIKE THEM. If they LIKE YOU BACK, you shift gears a bit, and SHOW THEM SOME STUFF (ebook you wrote, blog you maintain, site/community you like and frequent - the list of tactics at this stage is endless and you can INVENT MORE YOURSELF - wow...what a novel thought!! being CREATIVE?? (snickering)

4. This begins to build that most elusive of feelings (especially in marketing) - the omnipotent T word - TRUST

5. Now conventional wisdom and theory would probably say ENOUGH ALREADY!! Just go PRESENT your business to them and get going, make some money, you're burning daylight, what are ya waitin for? are ya a scaredy cat to show it to em? Hardly.

Here's where RTC makes a MAGICAL appearance. Recruit To Container. Ok ok, the phrase is pretty lame - container? what the HECK is that? simple. It's a DEVICE. It's a VIRTUAL asset you have in your bag o tricks. In the case of professional direct networking, it's a TEACHING PORTAL. And it's on the net.

Why recruit to a teaching portal as your next step? Great question.

Because you do NOT want to try to create seasoned MARKETERS out of raw recruits. Instead, you want to create WILDLY SUCCESSFUL networkers out of the SEASONED MARKETERS you have incubated inside your TEACHING PORTAL. Cool, huh?

It looks like this: MARKETING ABILITY FIRST. Networking relationships SECOND!! Teach your "friends" and your "followers" (Twitter) to MARKET and you'll have them banging down the door to join you REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT IS YOU DO. Period. End of story. Slam Dunk. Done deal. Just decide how many zeros you wish to write on your monthly commission checks (notice the plural) - because in a CONTAINER approach, you are NO LONGER BOUND by one networking company relationship. Your organizational structure is maintained by YOU and YOUR TOOLS, web sites and scripts, not some company you have zero control over. Build the right team and then go develop monetization relationships with AS MANY COMPANIES AS MAKES LOGICAL SENSE TO YOU. don't LISTEN to anyone else. Do what makes GOOD BUSINESS SENSE (the vast masses in this industry don't have much of this one) :-)

Oh, and unlike almost eveyone else, why stop with networking revenue? Publish that book! Develop that forced-continuity membership community. JV with an advanced INTERNET MARKETER (or three) and radically expand your income BEYOND merely networking income. You're "net savvy" now, right? You know how to TEACH, right? So go MONETIZE that skill set already!!
